It reminds me of another quote of his, up on the wall of the National Gallery: "Immature poets imitate; mature poets steal" I thought it was showing a sense of humor, but it turns out to be a defense of his inserting quotes and references wholesale into his work. Maybe a sense of humor is for post-post modern poets?

The same could also be said of mothers. Or fathers. Or nuclear power plant technicians.
